I have chosen to look at this image because it shows the spiritual side of the voodoo culture, this image shows a woman who looks to be possessed by a demon or spirit while practicing voodoo. I think this image is more physiologically appealing because it tells a deeper story, people of the modern world may find it hard to believe and/or understand. I think images like this one would have discouraged voodoo even more from people understanding it, this shows an image of a woman in a frightening way; she seems out of control of her body or under some sort of spell, this seems threatening to someone and would terrify anyone onlooking.

This is another image that has a phycological interest; this shows a native African man with  hair and eyes of a tribesman, but is styled to incorporate knives, this could be a meaning of death or a threat, it would be a protection from the white people using them as slaves.

This image inspired me to think of voodoo dolls and the result caused by needles, I was interested in this image and the horror in reflects.

I find these images inspiring because I think the feel of the photo collection captures the emotions I am trying to illustrate through my makeup design. There is a sinister approach to these images that i find interesting and captures Gothic Horror in a modern way.
