Rick Genest-Zombie Boy

Rick Genest- Zombie Boy

By the age of nineteen, Zombie Boy had almost the whole of his boy tattooed to look like the anatomy of the human body, he has involved rotting areas an even some bugs to show the extent. Now 90% of his body is tattooed, he has become an icon for what is considered beauty, a model, actor, singer and song writer he believes is being himself and has managed to acquire a cult of followers. (http://rickgenest.com/story/, 19.03.16) I have chosen to look at Zombie Boy and his tattoos because they inspire me to think of the makeup of voodoo practices and the meaning behind the idea of skulls. Voodoo spirits have been illustrated as evil; bodies who are the in-between for the living and the dead and are often shown to have a skull on their face or to be accosted with skulls; this is a symbol of death.

Zombie Boy's style has inspired me to practice with different techniques to create a skull makeup look. I want to keep the look based on the Coven series of AHS but also think of other ways to incorporate skulls or other meanings/symbols of death.
