I have researched these images of scars to get an idea of how a realistic scar would look. This will help me to develop my skills; to get the right colour match and right thickness of the scar, depending on the fall or the graze before hand. There are makeup products by Kryolan that dry in a clear jell, this is good at imitating the effect of a scar on the outside of the skin, and once powdered looks very realistic.

This is an example of a badly cut and grazed arm, this image will also help me to get the colour match I want to make the final look realistic. When the skin is bruised in this redness way, the skin comes up in little red bumps, this effect can be made using a stipple sponge, as the holes in the sponge are stiff and don't allow any colour in between.

This very gross looking cut is positioned on the foot and is a good example of a real cut that I could recreate using moulding wax and latex.

This is an image of a black eye that is healing, at first the eye is very red and then gradually gets more tones of fellow and purple, this is important to remember because the colour of the black eye will depend on the age, as well as the colour of blood. Also in some of the images the eye is sagging down, this will be recreated using latex and wax.

Another example of a bruise, in this example the skin is dimply and has speckles of colour, this will be made using the stipple sponge and the super colour palette, as it easily spreads and blends, giving a more realistic finish.

These more grouse deal wounds will be harder to recreate without looking fake, I would use moulding wax to get the deal cut effect covered with latex to set the wax and to give the skin a rough and blistered effect. Getting the colour right in this would be hard but using blood that I know is professional will make the whole look more realistic as it will be a similar colour to real blood. The colours of this design also depend on the age of the wound, these wounds are from people in the hospital so the wounds look fresh and clean, although in a film the cuts may look dirty or have more blood running down.
