Smudged black eye makeup-gothic look

I admire this look, from Brighton fashion week, as it reminds me of a gothic look, the model has pale skin and very dark hidden eyes. This look makes me think of the type of gothic scary eyes that would be associated with Dorian Gray and his painting; it shows tired eyes with a sense of evil.

In this picture, I admire the way the makeup looks smooth and relatively pale, the eyes are darkened but it is not as intense as the picture below. I also chose to look at this picture because; the hair reminds me of the slick look of some of the earlier Victorian male hairstyles, and also adds to the gothic horror concept.

I have focused on dark makeup on male models because the character I am creating for this project will be a man. I like the idea of darkening the eyes to create a 'scary' and evil intense look straight away, but having the control and softness of professional makeup.
